A River That Has Always Been Here
The Mameyes River originates deep within El Yunque National Forest and winds its way through the mountains of northeastern Puerto Rico before reaching the sea. Along the way, it passes through Hacienda Yuké — carving a path through dense foliage, past ancient trees, and over smooth volcanic stone.
This is not a decorative feature. The river is the reason this land exists the way it does. It shapes the air, the soil, the sound, and the life that gathers here. To walk its banks is to understand something about Puerto Rico that no guidebook can explain.
Life Along the Water
River Trails
Walk the banks of the Mameyes through lush groves and tropical forest at your own pace. No trail fees, no crowds — just the sound of moving water and the canopy above you.
Swimming & Wading
The Mameyes runs cold and clear year-round — perfect for cooling off on volcanic rock or floating with the forest sounding above you. There are no pools at Hacienda Yuké. This is the pool.
Morning & Evening Rituals
Mist rises from the surface at dawn as birds call from the canopy in waves. Bring coffee. Sit by the bank. Let it find you.
Wildlife Watching
Coquí frogs, tropical birds, and freshwater fish make their home along the Mameyes. Bring patience and you'll be rewarded.
River Cabins
Coming soon: a small collection of cabins set along the Mameyes River — close enough to fall asleep to the sound of the water, each one placed to follow the terrain and the shade of the forest canopy.
River Pérgolas
A dedicated riverside gathering spot for our camping guests — covered seating, a grill, and a picnic table, just steps from the water.
